This is Choupinette, aged 11 and blind in one eye. She is a 'Royal Bourbon' - a breed from the Isle of Reunion, from where she was rescued and brought into France for adoption. Horrifically dogs are sometimes used as shark bait on the Isle of Reunion - yes, a hook fixed, often through the nose and thrown in the sea.
Dachshunds, especially wire-haired dachshunds, are too adorable, aren't they? This one was at Monaco Dog Show earlier this year. He looks as if he wishes his owner would hurry up with whatever he is doing. Note the skull and crossbones leash.
He looks fierce, doesn't he? As for the hole in one ear and the chunk out of the other one, perhaps he was used as a fighting dog in the past. Totally illegal, of course, and despicable. He was peering over a wrought iron fence in Gorbio village.
Get me outta here! Sometimes I call in to a dog grooming salon in Menton - the owner is a friend of mine - and so of course I have to snap the dogs. This little bichon has just been bathed and is waiting to be dried.
A visitor to PhotoMenton yesterday! She's called Hanna, is three and a half years old and lives in Villefranche Sur Mer. Hanna is a Coton de Tulear, a breed from Madagascar. Dogs are only allowed in PhotoMenton if they are carried, (and Hanna is heavy) so she happily sat on my lap, or the chair, whilst her owners had a look around the exhibition.
Much of Larvotto Beach in Monaco is closed for winter. But nothing will
stop this lovely boxer asking me to throw the ball yet once more! His
owners are closing up their shop for the winter.
This is one of the photos you'll find on my stand at PhotoMenton, Palais
de l'Europe, Menton. Open until Sunday. Do come along and say Hello!
My beautiful friend, Emmanuelle and Joe, the Cocker spaniel at the Coulée Verte in Nice. This is one of the photos I'm exhibiting at PhotoMenton this year. (Palais de l'Europe, Menton until Sunday...) - do come along!
This is Kiwi, a 6 month old apricot poodle. Kiwi was born in Canada and flown over to France when he was three months old. As life goes on, he'll be regularly flying back and forth between his owner's two homes: Montreal and Monaco.
This bundle of fluff, sitting on her owner's feet for security (!) is a Pyrenean Shepherd dog, known in France as theBerger des Pyrénées. She's called Lady, is two and a half months old and lives in Menton.
Titine, the French bulldog, thinks she's a cat! She and her owner
Denis, who live in Gorbio, are at Sini's restaurant in Menton - a
great place for a light lunch - perhaps a slice of pissaladiere and
with a glass of wine, of course!
